One way to increase your email list signups is to offer a relevant, high quality free gift. Something that most people who would want your products and services, would also want.
So your first problem is to think what that might be. I can’t help you with that. But once you have the right free gift in mind, you can use the two step signup process that I describe below.
If all you offer is news of your latest posts – this can still be a good offer – but will not get you as many signups as something more immediately valuable.
Increase Email List Signups By Using Two Steps
Another way to increase signups is when you offer a great free giveaway for signing up to your list, do it in two steps.
See It In Action
If you want to see my two-step signup process in action, just click on the yellow button in the menu above.
What I have done there is easy to do with Optinmonster. It has the added bonus of also providing you with many other ways to increase signups.
The advantage of using their two-step signup via a link or button click, is that the visitor will definitely want the thing you’ve promised if they click the button. They are sort of, already committed.
You choose the design of the form that the user sees. I like the full screen form which is what I’ve used on this site.
In the video I take you through the setup of a two-step sign up.
Underneath the video I’ve provided you with the code snippets referred to in the video.
As you know if you read my blog posts regularly, I use a few plugins to achieve everything I do on a Genesis website. The core ones are :
- Genesis Club Pro – a pro plugin we developed
- Genesis Extender – a pro plugin developed by Cobalt Apps
- Genesis Dambuster – a free plugin we developed
In this video I use the first two plugins listed above. However you can use the free Genesis Club Lite (which you can download via your WordPress plugins page, from the WordPress repository) if you do not have our Pro plugin, and you can use some other method to add the CSS than Genesis Extender.
However Genesis Extender is SO useful, I do suggest you get it. Although this tutorial doesn’t, many of the tutorials I release use some of the more sophisticated features of Genesis Extender.
